Some of the skills you guys want to improve on include: increasing reading speed, working on grammar in sentences, finding the key word, figuring out the main idea, figuring out what a word in a sentence means, and being able to read without using a dictionary to look up every word.
For the 1st blog assignment due on THURSDAY before class I want you to write a short summary about yourself. Tell me what you profession/career you are interested in. At the end include what you want to learn in this class. Here is an example:
My name is Meg Eddins. My life is centered around the church. My greatest wish is for my family and friends to be christians. I have been married to my husband (who I met while I was a student at Harding!) for almost 9 years. We have 3 beautiful, compassionate, energetic, kind daughters. I was a teacher and I love everything about teaching. I hope this class will help you to learn the skills needed to be a strategic reader.

My name is Dacheng Li, and my English name is Edison. I was borned in a little city named Kaiping in China. My major is International Business, and I have been here in Harding University from last year. I want to be a stock broker in the future, and that is what I am thinking now. I want to gratudated from Harding within two years then I can begin my career in some ways. I like swimming because I really enjoy the feeling in water. Also, this is the only sport that I used to do.
Hi. My name is Yingtong Gan. You can call me Anny. There are four people in my family: my parents, my little brother and me. I was borned in Zhuhai, a beautiful city in the south of China. I came to Harding for one year. I like this school not only because of the beautiful scenery it has but also because of the nice person it has. I love reading. My major is accounting. My name is Jessica Peng who from Hunan Province,China. I came to Harding and learned the ESL class for the whole last year. Now although I haven't past the TOELF test yet,but i still can chose some major class to study. It is so excited for me though some of the classes really hard to understand. However, I will try my best to handle them. I am good at Chinese calligraphy,last year I performed it on the day of Chinese Moon Festival, but I haven't practise it for a long time...When I have leisure time, I love to play racket-ball and swimming,sometimes just like to have a walk on the campus playground. This summer break, I had a wonderful time at home. I got a job for two month and spend much time with my family, also visited some interesting places, friends and Steven Shaner who was my speech class teacher in Harding last year in China!
